Latest! Nottingham Symphony Orchestra's 2009/2010 season kicks off with what promises to be an unmissable concert of English music on 21 November at the Albert Hall, Nottingham. As well as the Cockaigne Overture and Symphony No.2 by Elgar, and Vaughan-Williams' Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis, the concert will feature the world premier of a new horn concerto by Andy Evans, himself a horn player with the Orchestra. The concerto will be played by NSO's principal horn, Robert Parker. Since starting to compose in 1999 Andy has written more than twenty works and in 2008 one of his compositions was a prize winner in a BBC competition for amateur composers. The picture shows Andy Evans and Robert Parker discussing the concerto during the interval at NSO's May concert. (Concert flyer.)
